Career
From 1978 to 1982 he served in the army in Murmansk region (Russia). Later he taught at the Minsk Higher Engineer Air Missile School. Since 1989, with a group of officers, he developed the concept of the Belarusian army.
In 1991 he left the Communist Party, became a member of the Central Council of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Narodnaya Hramada), created Belarusian Men-of-Arms Association. Since 1995 he has been the Chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Narodnaya Hramada).
Was one of the organisers of the protest against the referendum in 2004, for which he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. In 2010 he participated in the presidential elections. In 2011 he was sentenced to six years in prison for mass protests on election day.
