Union of Poles in Belarus (anti-governmental)
Borys began her career teachin in Polish schools in Hrodna and Adelsk. In 1995 she became a member of the Union of Poles in Belarus (UPB), and three years later the head of its education department. At the sixth congress of the UPB in March 2005 she was elected head of the Union, which caused concern among the authorities. She replaced Tadeusz Kruczkowsk in that posti, who had sought to cooperate with the government. In May 2005 the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus cancelled her election.
She repeatedly faced pressure from the Belarusian State Security Committee, the Prosecutor”s Office and the police. In March 2009 was elected leader of the unregistered Union of Poles in Belarus for the second time. In 2010 she left this post for personal reasons.
