He worked as a laboratory assistant in Zabarova school. In 1966-1967 he was secretary of the Komsomol committee at the Kirov collective farm in the Pinsk district. In 1967-1968 he worked in the newspaper Savieckaje Paliessie in Hancavičy. In 1970-1978 he was a literary worker of the Sielskaja Hazieta.
In 1978-1982 he worked as the head of the department, deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper Sovetskaya Belorussia. In 1984-1990 he served as deputy editor-in-chief of this newspaper.

From 1990 to 1995 he was the editor-in-chief of Narodnaja Hazieta, the organ of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus. Was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the 12th convocation
